Abstract:Objective: To introduce the design and application of multi-purpose baffle for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and the preliminary clinical results.Methods: The multi-purpose baffle structure comprises a baffle plate connected with each other, a handle and a negative pressure suction tube. The baffle plate is provided with a circular transparent window, a circular transparent window channel and a rectangular transparent window. A rectangular transparent window is arranged in the middle of the top edge of the baffle; a circular transparent window is arranged on one side of the geometric center position of the baffle; the handle is connected with the lower part of the baffle; the negative pressure suction tube is connected with the handle at the lower part of the baffle plate, and the front end opening extends to the middle part of the baffle plate to form an suction port, and the rear end opening is connected with an external negative pressure suction pipe to suck out the blood and debris near the baffle plate or attached to the surface of the baffle plate.Results:The multi-purpose baffle is applied in TKA patients during the operation, which can effectively block the splashed blood and bone fragments, greatly reduce the surgical infection rate, effectively protect the medical staff and prevent blood borne occupational exposure. 86 patients recovered well after operation without serious complications such as infection.Conclusion:The multi-purpose baffle blocks and absorbs pollutants such as blood and bone fragments spattered during TKA operation, reduces infection rate and reduces pollution and injury to medical staff, and is worthy of popularization and application.
