Abstract:[Abstract] Objective To compare the effect of Gong''s four-step reduction method combined with plaster external fixation in the treatment of ankle fracture. Methods A total of 90 patients with ankle fracture (admitted to our hospital) were randomly divided into control group (45 cases) and observation group (45 cases). The control group was treated with plaster external fixation, while the observation group was treated with Gong''s four-step reduction method combined with plaster external fixation. The operation-related indicators (fracture healing time, hospitalization time, operation time), ankle Kofoed function score, peak plantar pressure, clinical efficacy and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results There was no obvious difference in hospital stay, treatment effective rate and incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups (P>0.05), the fracture healing time and operation time in the observation group were obviously lower than those in the control group (P<0.05); compared with before operation, the range of motion, function, pain and total score of Kofoed function in both groups were obviously increased at 3 months after operation (P<0.05), and compared with the control group, the observation group had obviously higher scores (P<0.05). The pressures of forefoot and whole foot in the observation group at 3 months and 6 months after operation were obviously higher than those in the control group (P<0.05), the pressures of hindfoot and midfoot in the observation group were obviously higher than those in the control group at 3 months after operation (P<0.05), but there was no obvious difference at 6 months after surgery (P>0.05). Conclusion Both Gong''s four-step reduction method combined with plaster external fixation can effectively treat patients with ankle fractures, and Gong''s four-step reduction method can more effectively improve ankle function and increase the peak plantar pressure.
