Abstract:Abstract: [Objective] To analyze the efficacy and surgical safety of intervertebral foraminoscopy in the treatment of brucellosis spondylitis of the lower lumbar spine (L4/5, L5/S1).[Methods] We retrospectively analyzed the medical records of 16 patients with brucellosis spondylitis of the lower lumbar spine treated with intervertebral foraminoscopy from January 2014 to August 2022 in our spine surgery department. By comparing the erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), visual analogue scale (VAS) of pain, Oswestry disability index (ODI), preoperative and postoperative follow-up of the patients, statistical analysis was performed, and the surgery was observed The changes of paravertebral abscess before and after surgery were observed to evaluate the treatment effect and summarize the complications. [Results] The surgery was successfully completed in 16 patients, and the postoperative ESR, CRP, VAS, and ODI all decreased compared with the preoperative period (P < 0.05), and the low back pain and lower limb nerve symptoms were significantly reduced, with good healing of the surgical incision, no poor healing of the incision, and no complications such as nerve, vascular, or spinal cord injury. [Conclusion] Intervertebral foraminopathy for the treatment of brucellosis spondylitis of the lower lumbar spine has good clinical efficacy, few surgical complications, and high safety, which can effectively improve patients' symptoms and quality of life.
