Abstract:Abstract: Objective: To introduce the cup-on-cup technique in specific types of acetabular bone defects in hip revision. Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed in patients who were admitted to Henan Province Luoyang Orthopaedic Hospital (Henan Province Orthopaedic Hospital) from February 2016 to April 2017. The perioperative parameters were recorded. The average follow-up was 5 years. The clinical parameters and imagings at the last follow-up were compared with the preoperative parameters. Results: Results: The operations were successfully completed without serious complications such as vascular or nerve injury. All patients were followed up for an average of 5 years. The postoperative Harris score, hip flexion-extension range of motion (ROM) , hip internal-external rotation ROM, and visual analog scale (Visual Analog Scale, VAS) were superior over those of pre-operation (P<0.05). There was no sign of failure of the prosthesis during the last follow-up, and the center of rotation of the hip joint was reconstructed and the leg length discrepancy was more consistent than preoperation (P<0.05). Conclusion: The Cup-on-cup technique is satisfactory in the treatment of patients with specific acetabular bone defect types (the elderly and those with unidirectional bone defects), which is worthy of clinical promotion.
