Abstract:Abstract: [Objective] Introduce the surgical treatment and curative effect of the “triad of the elbow”. [Methods] A retrospective analysis of the clinical data of 53 patients with “triad of the elbow” who had been surgically treated in our department from July 2017 to March 2020. They were 34 males and 19 females; with a mean age of 40 years (from 16 to 63 years ).All patients were treated with a single lateral incision.Repair ulna coronal process fractures, radial head fractures, lateral collateral ligament complex and the origin of the common extensor tendon from deep to shallow.Functional exercise under the protection of adjustable elbow joint activity support after operation.Regularly followed-up and evaluated the postoperative outcomes.[Results] All patients were followed up for 6 to 32 months (mean, 19.0 months) after operation, and 2 of them underwent two-stage release surgery. Over time, the VAS score gradually decreased (P<0.001), and the Mayo elbow joint function score gradually decreased. Increased (P<0.001), elbow flexion and extension, and forearm rotation were gradually improved (P<0.001). At the last follow-up, 53 cases of varus stress test were negative, of which 14 cases had heterotopic ossification.[Conclusion] The “triad” of the elbow joint uses a single lateral incision to repair ulna coronoid fractures, radial head fractures, lateral collateral ligament complex plus extensor tendon starting point, and early functional exercises under the protection of adjustable elbow joint activities. Good results can be obtained.
