Abstract:Objective: To investigate the methods and efficacy of arthroscopic Bankart repair combined with the Biceps transfer for the treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder instability with partial glenoid bone defect. Methods: From September 2016 to January 2018, 14 patients with recurrent anterior shoulder instability with partial glenoid bone defects underwent Bankart repair combined with the Biceps transfer. There were 10 males and 4 females with a mean age of 30.2 years (rang 24-47 years), Shoulder instability and a history of recurrent dislocation existed in all patients. Results: Surgical incision healed well. 12 patients were followed for 12 to 28 months, with an average of 21 months. At the last follow-up, the shoulder apprehension test and anterior drawer test were negative. The shoulder had no dislocation occurred, and ASES score and Rowe score were better than preoperative one (P<0.05).Conclusion:Arthroscopic Bankart repair combined with the Biceps transfer can effectively enhance the stability of the shoulder. It is an effective method for the treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder instability with partial glenoid bone defects.
