Abstract:Abstract: [Objective] This study is aim to evaluate therapy effect of infected bone defect treated by external locking plate with staging bone cement. [Methods] From Jan 2015 to Jan 2019, 26 patients of bone defect were admitted to our department. 12 patients were treated by external fixation plate with staging bone cement, 14 patients were treated by external fixator with staging bone cement. Healing rate of bone defect, infection rate, complicate rate was analyzed. [Results] All patients were followed up for 12 to 25 months, the average is 18.5 months. There is no infection recurrence on external fixation plate group, while 2 cases of infection recurred in external fixator group after patients were treated by bone cement. After bone graft, bone healing time in these two groups is 3.6 months, 3.8months, respectively. 2 patients have delayed bone union in plate group, while 3 patients in external fixator group. 3 cases in external fixation plate group have 4 sites pin track infection, while 4 cases with 7 sites pin track infection in external fixator group. There is no pin loose in plate group, while 5 cases with 10 pins loose in external fixation group. [Conclusion] Comparing to external fixation, there is a similar therapy effect that application external fixator plate combined with three-stage Masquelet technique to treat infectious bone defect, while reducing times of operation, declining incidence rate of pin track infection and loose.
