Abstract:Abstract:[Objective] To introduce the surgical technique and clinical outcomes of the treatment of acute Stener injury of the thumb by double ring intersecting compression suture. [Methods] From May 2012 to July 2019, 12 patients with acute Stener injury of the thumb were treated using double ring intersecting suture to reconstruct the dead of ulnar collateral ligament of the thumb metacarpophalangeal joint and fixed 4 weeks with short arm spica cast after operation. After 4 weeks the plaster was removed, and Brace was used. We guided the patients to exercise injuried fingers during the 6 weeks gradually. [Results] All the patients were followed up 7-25months (mean, 15.5 months). All joints were characterized by stability. The activity, pinch force and the sensation of thumb humb dorsal were normal. The stress test were negative. According to Saetta et al criteria for functional assessment, the results were excellent in 10 cases, good in 1 cases and acceptable 1 cases, the excellent and good rate was 91.7%. [Conclusion] For the treatment of acute Stener injury of the thumb,it may be a better choice to use double ring intersecting compression suture.
