Ligamentum flavum hypertrophy is a common spinal degenerative disease. In-depth study of its pathogenesis requires a standard and reliable animal model. The animal models can be used as experimental vehicles for testing new therapies. Therefore, domestic and foreign scholars have established various animal models based on the objective changes of ligamentum flavum hypertrophy. This article summarizes the production methods of these animal models, combined with our experimental results, summarized as follows.
