Abstract:Objective To analyze the risk factors of dysphagia after occipitocervical fusion surgery Methods A total of 33 patients were reviewed in the present study .The presence and duration of postoperative dysphagia were recorded via telephone interview.According to the Bazaz grading system, the patients divided into dysphagia group(A group)and non-dysphagia group(B group ).Some angles were measured twice by the same researcher independently, using the same methods. Results There were 5 patients reported dysphagia after occipitocervical fusion surgery .Of them,2 patients were graded as”mild ”,3 patients as “moderate”. Analysis showed that the dO-C2 and dnPAS had considerable impact on postoperative dysphagia(P<0.001),Age,BMI,operative time ,blood loss did not significantly influence the incidence of postoperative dysphagia(P>0.005).Conclusion Postoperative dysphagia is a common complication after occipitocervical fusion surgery .The dO-C2 angle may play an important role in the development in occipitocervical fusion surgery.Over-enlargement of upper cervical lordosis should be avoided in order to reduce the rate of the development of postoperative dysphagia.
