Abstract:Abstract:[Objective] To explore the clinical effect of finger roots massage for delayed arterial spasm 1~3 months after severed fingers replantation. [Methods] A total of 5 patients with delayed arterial spasm 1~3 months after severed fingers replantation from March 2008 to June 2018 were treated with finger toots massage. There were 4 males and 1 female. The average age was 39 years old, ranging from 28 to 46. There were 1 case of car accident injury and 4 cases of machine crush injury. All patients underwent severed fingers replantation. And delayed arterial spasm was found 32 to 73 days after surgery. All patients immediately visited the hospital. And they were treated with finger roots massage. Regular follow-up was conducted at the clinic. [Results] The symptoms were alleviated after finger root massage in all 5 cases, and the fingertip color had turned rosy from pale or gray. The patients were followed up for 8 months to 9 years, with an average length of 39 months. There was no recurrence of arterial spasm in the replanted fingers. The fractures were healed and the appearance recovered well. The flexion and extension function of fingers were good. The sense of pain and temperature of the fingers recovered well. The two-points discrimination is 4 to 8 mm at the finger tips, with an average of 6 mm. All patient resumed their normal lives and work. According to the finger replantation function assess criteria of Chinese Medical Association Hand Surgery Branch, 3 patients had excellent results and 2 had good results. [Conclusion] Finger roots massage is an effective therapeutic approach for delayed arterial spasm 1~3 months after severed fingers replantation, which is worth of popularization.
